EDM superstar Timmy Trumpet has shared photos of his visibly swollen ankle, confessing that he must cancel some of his shows to recover.
Timmy Trumpet has been forced to pause his tour schedule following an ankle injury that has left him in a leg brace.
On Instagram, Timmy Trumpet (real name Timothy Jude Smith) shared a carousel of images starting with a photo of him in a wheelchair. “Down and out… not exactly what you want mid summer festival season!” reads the caption. “Regretfully following medical advice I won’t be able to perform this week while I undergo treatment, hoping for a speedy recovery.
Smith continued: “I’m so sorry to everyone coming to see me. I hate cancelling shows and wish I was partying with you guys so fkn much.”
The injury precluded Smith from performing at Cavo Paradiso in Mykonos, Greece yesterday, July 23, and Arena Forum in Sables, France today, July 24. His upcoming tour schedule also includes performances at Open Beats Festival in Herzogenaurach, Germany on July 25, Farout Beach Club in Ios, Greece on July 26, and Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium on July 27-28.
Smith did not indicate what might have caused the injury in his post. One of the images in the carousel is a photo of his feet side by side, with his left ankle’s shape noticeably distorted by swelling.
Having famously played trumpet since age four, Smith won a full-ride scholarship to attend the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and performed with the Australian All-Star Stage Band. He adopted the stage name Timmy Trumpet in the 2000s and began fusing live trumpet performances with his DJ sets. In the time since, he’s been billed to play at gatherings like Future Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Creamfields.
Smith has yet to share how long his hiatus from gigging will last, although he will presumably give an update as more information about his recovery comes to light.
