Getter is back like he never left, showcasing new music and classics at his first show in three years at the Hollywood Vermont.
On none other than the 4th of July, Tanner Petulla, better known as Getter, returned after an indefinite hiatus. Getter kicked off his newly announced Revival Tour at The Vermont Hollywood in Los Angeles, where he currently resides. The 1,200 person venue, sold out for the night, was a great place to host such a monumental return. Also on the lineup were Lizzy Jane, Black Carl, and Leotrix.
The crowd was noticeably older, largely made up of fans who’d clearly been following Getter since the early days. There was plenty of room to actually move, dance, and soak up the atmosphere. The full stage view from the balcony was extra special. This was my first real dubstep show since the pandemic, and I loved every moment of it. The whole venue had an energy that just felt right for his first show back.
Starting the night off were Lizzy Jane and Black Carl. Both set the night up super well. I enjoyed their song selection, and Black Carl even brought out Moore Kismet and Fly during his set. Leotrix played direct support for Getter with tons of energy, jumping and dancing all over the place. He even played his “Tokyo Drift” edit. The show up until this point felt like a piece of nostalgia from pre-pandemic days. Then it was Getters’ turn.

Even after being away from CDJs for three years, Getter was on point.
He played his collaboration with Skrillex and lots of unreleased music from both himself and with Space Laces. He ventured through trap, rap, dubstep, and even some tracks from Visceral. It was exactly what I’d hoped for as someone who’s been craving this style of music for years.
Petulla has been around as an artist in the scene for quite some time, with his earliest work dating back to 2011. He signed music to Owsla and Mad Decent. He’s made trap, dubstep, riddim, hip-hop, and tons of stuff in between since that debut. Later, he started a label called Shred Collective, releasing both his own work and other artists.
His 2018 album, Visceral, arguably his most experimental album, received mixed reviews, and around that same time, he started making rap under the name Terror Reid. Because of such a negative reaction to Visceral and getting booed off stage, he ended up canceling all shows in 2022. Then, in 2024, he announced that the Getter project was done forever, focusing on his rap project and other opportunities.
All of this is what made this return so special. Getter is arguably one of the most boundary pushing artists in this space. So being able to witness first hand his return for a sold out show was perfect.
The full, 13-stop tour tour continues in cities like Nashville, Philadelphia, and Tampa, landing all over the US from now until October 17. I’m extremely excited for him to be back and can’t wait to see how he’s feeling after the tour. Congratulations Tanner and shout out Brownies & Lemonade for such a great show!
Tickets for the rest of the tour can be purchased via Bandsintown, and we can only assume more new music will be out soon!
