Twitch-Sponsored festiVAL to be First-Ever Hybrid IRL/Streamed Microfestival

Valdudes, Gabriel & Dresden, Liquid Todd, BLKLGHT, Chris Cox, and more will perform during the debut edition of festiVAL later this month!

While many have seen Twitch as a home for gamers and IRL streamers who want to grow a following, it’s also become the place to be for many DJs looking to advance their careers and gain new fans. While its popularity surged during the pandemic, many on the platform have continued to press on ever since, serenading global audiences along the way. Twitch embraced DJs last year by revealing a new program centered on those who spin tunes, and now that program has taken the next step forward by sponsoring festiVAL.

Born from the global community of DJs on Twitch and the minds behind Audisoul, House Is A Feeling, and Kindred, festiVAL—set to take place on July 26-27—will be the first-ever 24-hour microfestival featuring an equal combination of streaming and in-person dancefloor action. The core of this experience is connection, and the experience will set out to do that by hosting 25+ DJs, 5+ IRL streamers, and a team of MCs led by Valdudes.

The debut edition of festiVAL will take place in person in an intimate venue in Los Angeles, where DJs are slated to take the stage and IRL streamers will mix and mingle, all while broadcasting on their respective Twitch channels. Those slated to perform include Gabriel & Dresden, Chris Cox, Liquid Todd, Magda Halina, Dial Jess, BLKLGHT, Cace Spowboy, Lavonda Rocks, and more. TheSushiDragon, a celebrated visual artist who has worked for TwitchCon, BMW, and more, will curate visuals for the entire 24-hour broadcast.

When I discovered the DJ scene on Twitch, it hit me like a lightning bolt. It wasn’t just the music, it was the energy, the intimacy, the rave-like connections happening in real time. Now, with Twitch sponsoring festiVAL, it feels like the platform is finally catching up to what we’ve known all along: this is real culture, real connection, and a real future for dance music.

While the in-person experience is sure to be fantastic, those tuning in to the livestream, which will be prominently featured on the Twitch front page, are in for a treat as well. Viewers will be able to see and hear the party through different camera angles, interact with the crowd via the chat projected at the venue, and experience the show via IRL streamers dippedinpoison, mcd00dle, and whoischelsea.

What festiVAL marks is another huge step forward for the Twitch DJ Program, which officially launched in 2024. Prior to the debut of the dedicated category, DJing on the platform existed in a gray area legally due to music licensing. Now, DJs can sacrifice a portion of their subscriber income to royalties for the ability to perform there after Twitch inked a deal with major record labels, giving many the chance to start, advance, or bolster their careers.

Tickets for the debut edition of festiVAL are on sale now. Visit the official website to make your purchase, tune in on Twitch during the stream, and stay tuned for further updates.
