Brownies & Lemonade Cancels Upcoming Edition of Rattleship

This year’s edition of Brownies & Lemonade’s Rattleship has been canceled due to restrictions from the City of Alameda that would prevent it from operating in a viable manner.

Brownies & Lemonade have long been known for curating unique dance music experiences in unconventional venues, and Rattleship, their two-day event on the USS Hornet, has become beloved since its debut. The hype began to build for the event’s third edition when it was announced earlier this year, but unfortunately, the show has been forced to cancel.

The team behind Brownies & Lemonade took to social media earlier today to announce their decision to cancel the event, which was set to take place on July 25, citing that this year’s edition had become “virtually impossible to execute” due to restrictions from the City of Alameda. These restrictions from the city, which appear to be rooted in issues with other events on the USS Hornet, would not allow Rattleship to operate at a capacity that would make it viable.

“Our production team was not made aware of these prior, mismanaged events until after tickets went on sale,” Brownies & Lemonade shared. “Despite us having a track record of successfully operating this event for two years, the last month has been spent tirelessly working with the Building Department of the City of Alameda to address their concerns in operating an event by their standards.”

Brownies & Lemonade said that this cancellation was a “devastating blow” to their team, but they’re planning to make it up to everyone as best as they can. All is not lost for those who were planning to attend, as B&L is working on another show in the Bay Area on July 25-26 that will feature the artists who were originally slated to play Rattleship, with details to be announced soon.

This is a huge bummer for us, and we understand that some of you will be annoyed, and we 100% feel the same. But we figured that in order to one day bring back Rattleship at the level you deserve, we want to be positive and provide a solution that gives our artists a proper stage to play, and our amazing community a place to let loose, without compromising the experience.

Those who purchased passes for Rattleship 2025 will receive a full refund to the payment method used on Eventbrite within the next three to five days. Unfortunately, tickets are not transferable to the new show, but purchasers will receive special priority in the new presale, allowing them to secure their passes and continue with their plans to party.

Launched in 2023, Rattleship has attracted thousands who wanted to catch a wide array of surprise artists on the retired aircraft carrier that now serves as a museum. Past highlights included sets from artists like RL Grime, Madeon, Juelz, Whipped Cream, Rossy, Delta Heavy, and more.
