Tiësto has said that he will no longer shy away from trance in his upcoming four-hour PRISMATIC DJ performances.
For years, it was a sore spot among trance fans. Tiësto, who grew world-famous during the genre’s heyday, had famously outgrown it sometime in the mid- to late-2000s. That made it all the more spectacular when he revisited trance with his special “In Search Of Sunrise” set at this year’s edition of EDC Las Vegas, and now, he’s shared that it won’t be a one-time stunt.
“PRISMATIC is an epic 4hr musical journey,” wrote Tiësto (real name Tijs Verwest) in an Instagram post about the show concept. “A mix of all the different Tiësto styles over the years. This includes TRANCE which hasn’t been part of my sets until my recent and very special In Search of Sunrise performance at EDC.”
In the attached video carousel, Verwest can be seen playing a number of his trance classics in a recent PRISMATIC event in Mexico City. Among them are the Dutch superstar’s 2000 rendition of “Silence” by Delerium, and his 2004 and 2005 singles “Love Comes Again” and “Adagio for Strings.”
Verwest has been playing his four-hour PRISMATIC sets since before his largely unexpected return to trance. He debuted the event concept at Forest Hills Stadium in New York City in October of last year, later taking it to world-class stages such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver and Club Space in Miami.
So yes, if you’ve been pining for Tiësto to revisit his trance roots, his upcoming PRISMATIC sets look to be right up your alley. Keep your eyes peeled as he’s sure to announce more information about upcoming shows as part of the series in the coming months.
