Conor McGregor Punches Pacha Ibiza Attendee to the Ground

Conor McGregor, an Irish mixed martial arts superstar, fired off a tweet the following day that some think may be in reference to the incident.

Pacha Ibiza is the stuff of White Isle legend — but this is one story the superclub would likely prefer to leave out of its legacy. On Tuesday, June 17, world-famous mixed martial artist Conor McGregor got in a physical altercation while celebrating on its high-profile dancefloor.

Video published by The Sun shows McGregor bending down from a raised platform to talk to a man while club lights beam down from overhead. He then appears to punch him twice, with the second strike knocking him to the ground. Bystanders then get between them, but McGregor doesn’t pursue the man further by the end of the clip.

The apparent sequence of events was corroborated by a witness who spoke to The Sun. “Clearly something’s been said to annoy him and he’s reacted very badly,” they said.

“The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away,” another witness told Dublin Live. “There [didn’t appear to be any] consequences for Conor, but the guy he punched was taken away, and I didn’t see him again.”

The following day, McGregor took to X to volley off a remark that many interpret as being a reference to the incident. “You wont speak bad about my country and its people and thats ever,” he wrote.

Conor McGregor started competing in mixed martial arts in 2008, with his first chartered UFC fight taking place in 2013. In the years that followed, he became the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different weight classes — but he hasn’t formally fought since 2021, when he suffered a broken leg being defeated by Dustin Poirier.

Pacha’s long and illustrious history dates back to when Ricardo Urgell opened it in 1973, and its parent company now operates similar venues in Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, Tarragona, Munich, and Buenos Aires. The flagship Ibiza superclub is hosting residencies featuring artists like BLOND:ISH and Solomun in 2025.
