Chicago Music Nexus is set to return to the Windy City this fall with panelists including John Curley, Ky William, Proppa, Emma Kapotes, and more.
Knowledge is power, and in recent years, members of the dance music industry have embraced that mentality with open arms. Conferences, monthly mixers, and workshops have begun to pop up nationwide to help advance education in this space, and one of the latest to turn heads is Chicago Music Nexus. This single-day event in the Windy City debuted last year, and now they’re planning to run it back for round two.
Founded by Sherm and Olivia Mancuso, Chicago Music Nexus aims to set a new standard for industry events by honoring the scene’s roots while fostering a space for innovation and opportunities. This year’s edition, which will take place at The Joinery on November 22, will continue where the debut edition left off by offering panels featuring powerhouse members of the scene along with breakout stations for more guidance.
Nothing replaces the power of in-person connections in this industry. A single conversation at the right event can open doors that years of online networking can’t. We created Chicago Music Nexus because these career-changing opportunities shouldn’t be so rare.

The three featured panels at the upcoming edition of Chicago Music Nexus will touch on crucial topics for DJs, creators, and industry members to know if they plan to advance their careers. The first, Going Global, is a panel focused on expanding from being a local DJ to one who tours, featuring Ky William, Wasserman’s Daisy Santow, and Define Group’s Mario Danza.
Social Media Secrets For Creators will be a dedicated conversation on how creators can build a strong fanbase with Emma Kapotes, Proppa, and Calculated Creative’s Hope Lansing. Finally, Adapt or Die is set to bring a “no-holds-barred” discussion on the real costs and revenue opportunities in dance music, with Auris Presents’ John Curley, RITUALS’ Rami Riashy, and GM Weath Partners’ Dan Mueller.
Beyond those panels, attendees can get their professional headshot taken by Crystal Lotus Studios, check out a special presentation from Trackstack, or get a 60-second PR pitch makeover from Petey Mac, owner of PGM PR.
