Pocket Monster Rave looks to bring the fan bases of Pokémon and EDM under one roof in Southern California.
They did it with Shrek. They did it with Star Wars. Now, it’s time for Pokémon to cross over into the EDM landscape. A brand-new event called Pocket Monster Rave is coming to Bleu Restaurant in Westminster, California on June 7-8, and it promises to scratch the itch for a Pokémon-themed dance party that many ravers seem to feel.
“Pokémon” is the simplified Japanese pronunciation of the English phrase “pocket monster” — thus the name of the two-day party. It’s the brainchild of Mayhem Events, who have also organized EDM gatherings themed around the Star Wars and Mario franchises, along with more conventional ones.
“Inside Club Bleu, the production’s going LEVEL 100 — with immersive visuals, lasers, fog blasts, and LED madness that’ll transport you into a whole new evolution of nightlife,” reads a description on the Pocket Monster Rave page. “Dress to impress in your favorite Pokémon ‘fit (not mandatory) — whether it’s full cosplay, onesies, or a fire Pokéball tee, it’s time to catch some looks on the dance floor.”
No lineup details have been announced for Pocket Monster Rave as of this writing. Organizers instead promise “immersive visuals, lasers, fog blasts, and LED madness,” along with “Pokémon-themed visuals, décor, and light show” as well as “Tons of surprises we can’t reveal just yet.”
Bleu Restaurant offers Asian fusion cuisine along with industrial decor and a clubby dancefloor. For Pocket Monster Rave, the venue is offering bottle service for two bottles at $500, which locks in entry for ten guests. For the record, though, entry is free until 10pm PT — one hour after doors open.
