The Odes of Orbyz will add another saga to the Tomorrowland lore as the festival’s 2025 edition approaches.
Tomorrowland introduced fans to its literary side in 2023 with a novel whose theme was inspired by its flagship festival of the same year. The event brand is keeping the tradition going two years later, announcing plans to publish a new one titled The Odes of Orbyz.
Available now via the online Tomorrowland store, The Odes of Orbyz chronicles the “complete origin story” of this year’s festival theme. “Learn all about the magical realm of snow and ice and discover the secrets of the ORBYZ Mainstage,” reads a description of the book.
The story of the novel is set in a fantastical, subterranean ice city called Nymbuz, whose denizens have started to disappear at random. An explosion in their mine then whisks away the main character, Tybla, into a reluctant adventure, where she meets a nomad from the surface who challenges her worldview.
The Odes of Orbyz consists of more than 300 pages, some of which include an illustrated glossary, two illustrated maps, and festival artwork inside the hardcover. A limited edition version also features “sprayed edges,” according to the product details.
Tomorrowland inaugurated in 2005, initially drawing around 10,000 people to Boom, Belgium in its first year. In the two decades since, the festival brand has expanded to include events throughout South and Central America as well as the French Alps.
Recent years have seen Tomorrowland’s organizers set their festivals apart from the rest with an impressive degree of world building. Memorable themes like “Elixir of Life” and “Ascendo” have tied all of its production and promotional elements together, and 2023 saw the festival organizers introduce the first event-accompanying novel, The Rise of Ascendo.
