Victor Nagaev dropped off a mix filled to the brim with hard techno energy to keep your body moving from dusk to dawn.
Hard techno is the hottest genre in the scene right now, and Victor Nagaev is part of the next wave of artists advancing its sounds. This Russian DJ and producer brings a different level of heaviness with his releases with tunes that call back to the days of raves gone yet have a modern twist featuring his signature Schranz elements.
My music is inspired by 90s and early 2000s hard techno and Schranz, blended with emotional, minor-key synth melodies and catchy vocal hooks that stick in your head. At the same time, I just love a heavy, driving groove. I like playing with breakdowns and using them as moments to surprise the listener — sometimes dropping in something unexpected like drum & bass.

“I draw inspiration from all kinds of genres, even those far outside the world of techno. I can find creative ideas in hip-hop, rock, or anything else that catches my ear,” he continued. “Hip-hop, in particular, is great for discovering unique vocal samples that I can flip and reshape into my own sound.” Those influences can be heard throughout his original tunes and edits that have graced imprints, including Expel Your Demons, PARTIA, Revised Recordings, and more.
Most recently, Victor Nagaev made his way to fresh hard techno label KKULA, where he dropped off a massive track with CBR., “The Rhythm Never Dies,” on Syndicate VA 1 This tune is a perfect example of the warehouse-fueled style he brings with his productions as it pummels you with high-octane kicks, chopped vocals, and more.
Now, he’s put even more of his style on display with his mix for our Spring Sound Waves series. This 30-minute journey happens in the blink of an eye as Victor Nagaev unleashes his might, showing off tracks like “Digits,” “Kick Rollin,” and an unreleased tune, “Bass Fight.” Also layered into the mix are tunes from DJ Hammond, Schwultz, Greg Notill, Svetec, and more.
