Michael Bibi played a surprise set at Beachouse Ibiza and raised €56,021 in door donations.
Michael Bibi’s philanthropy clearly didn’t end at his six-figure donation following One Life London. The UK DJ and producer surprised clubbers with a performance at Beachouse Ibiza last week, donating €56,021 in donations solicited at the door during the spontaneous stunt to White Isle cancer charity APAAC.
APAAC — whose full Spanish name translates to Pitiusa Association for Cancer Support — raises money to offer therapy, social care, consulting, and physical therapy to people undergoing treatment for cancer in Ibiza and Formentera at no cost to them. The organization’s impact report states that hundreds of individuals benefited from these initiatives in 2023 alone.
“I’ve always had a thing for last-minute shows in Ibiza,” reads a statement from Bibi. “There’s something special about the chaos and spontaneity of it all. But this time, instead of an after-party, I wanted to channel that energy into something with meaning.”
“Playing at Beachouse for the first time, with the sea just a few feet away and the energy of the crowd, reminded me why I fell in love with this scene in the first place — the community and connection,” Bibi continued. “Last night was one of those moments where you could really feel that unity. We’ve all faced our own challenges, and if we can turn that into something that supports others, then that’s what it’s all about.”
Michael Bibi, whose career in electronic music started when he bought his first pair of belt-driven turntables at 14, was diagnosed with a a rare brain cancer called CNS lymphoma in 2023. He entered remission after six months of treatment and played on the biggest stages of his career so far in 2024.
Next on Bibi’s agenda is a Saturday, May 17 performance at Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City organized in partnership with Teksupport. After that, he returns to Europe for gigs in Spain, the UK, and Belgium.
