As a central figure of Movement Detroit, Goldie will host an exhibition, headline the opening party, and create a mural, all before his festival performance.
While Detroit is globally recognized for groundbreaking musical contributions like Motown and techno, the city’s artistic spirit is also vividly represented by the widespread presence of graffiti. This contemporary artistic energy will be further illuminated as Movement Detroit and 1xRUN‘s have jointly announced legendary artist, musician, and cultural icon Goldie as their Artist-In-Residence for the festival’s 2025 edition.
Art installations throughout the festival grounds have been a staple at the festival for a number of years, previously featuring artists like Freddy Diaz, Kevin Lyons and Sheefy. This year, Goldie will illustrate the tradition and spirit of graffiti through the creation of Love: Detroit, a large-scale mural located at the Pyramid Stage that acknowledges the pioneers of Detroit’s legendary music scene.
I’m bringing some proper graff to Detroit for Movement Festival. The mural is called Love: Detroit, by yours truly. I’ll be painting my love for this city’s integral musical history, standing on the shoulders of the giants who built it.

Goldie will also debut a solo exhibition on Friday, May 23 at Spot Lite Detroit, another stop on his full schedule of appearances over Memorial Day Weekend. In Still Life Talking, as it’s called, Goldie underscores the importance of living in the present and accepting change as life’s moments flow continuously. Following the exhibition’s opening, Goldie will headline the official Movement Opening Party alongside Beatnok, Jeff Risk, and more.
Then, during the festival, fans can venture to the Waterfront Stage on Sunday, May 25 and witness Goldie and UK producer Photek deliver what is sure to be a high-octane set full of drum and bass, jungle and breakbeat classics.
Tickets are moving fast, so grab yours on the Movement Detroit website and don’t miss out! Still Life Talking is free and open to the public and more information is available on the Spot Lite Detroit website.
