“We have AirTags in everything and are on the way with the police to get everything back,” wrote Kruder & Dorfmeister on Instagram.
Kruder & Dorfmeister, an Austrian trip-hop duo who started their project over three decades ago, had their van broken into and equipment stolen outside Barcelona over the weekend.
The pair comprised of Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister were in town to perform at Barcelona club Paral·lel 62 on April 27, the same day they they shared the news of the robbery on Instagram. “On a parking space near Barcelona some a**holes broke into our equipment bus and stole some basses and percussion and other equipment!” reads the post. “We have AirTags in everything and are on the way with the police to get everything back!!!”
A carousel of images accompanying the post shows the contents of their van in disarray, with equipment cases, luggage, and even boxes of liquor visibly opened.
In a subsequent Instagram post only two hours later, Kruder & Dorfmeister revealed that they were able to retrieve most of their belongings. “Thanks to our AirTags we and the very helpful police found an also stolen van outside Barcelona with most of our stuff in there,” they wrote. “A pedal board with some extra cool pedals and a suitcase with stage clothes is still missing but that’s no big issue.”
Kruder & Dorfmeister became a familiar facet of trip-hop in the genre’s early years, riding high off the momentum of their 1993 EP G-Stoned. Recently, they have celebrated the 25th anniversary of their 1998 album The K&D Sessions with a series of live shows in which they perform its songs with the help of a full band.
By no means are Kruder & Dorfmeister the only electronic musicians to get robbed in recent memory. Last spring, for example, English artist Franky Wah had his laptop and other items stolen in Ibiza.
