A large puddle near the Ultra Music Festival Mainstage forced organizers to briefly pause its programming.
Those returning to Ultra Music Festival after attending last year are likely feeling déjà vu as organizers temporarily halted programming due to inclement weather.
”DUE TO THE STORM PLEASE EVACUATE NOW,” read a message displayed on the Mainstage’s LED screen around 2pm ET. Overhead photos circulating on social media appear to show large puddles in front of the structure.
Not long afterward, Ultra’s organizers issued a statement on Instagram. “Due to weather in the area the show is being temporarily paused,” they wrote. “Please seek shelter. Additional information to follow.”
Less than 20 minutes later, programming had resumed. “The event has restarted,” read a subsequent post shared on Ultra’s Instagram account.
AccuWeather’s forecast suggests that storms could carry on until the early evening. It remains to be seen whether further disruptions will force organizers to halt any additional programming.
Ultra Music Festival, which ended its Friday programming early and opened late on Saturday last year, was by no means the only festival affected by inclement weather. Both Movement Detroit and Electric Forest were forced to evacuate for significant portions of their 2024 events.
This year’s edition of Ultra features headliners like Skrillex, John Summit, Dom Dolla, Carl Cox, Subtronics, and Miss Monique. Dimension, deadmau5, and I Hate Models are among the artists slated to perform later today, the last day of the festival.
This is a developing story and EDM Identity will provide any additional updates as developments surface.
