Zeds Dead has unveiled a conceptual film that adds another layer of depth to their latest album, Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness.
If you thought Zeds Dead was done with the rollout of Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness by dropping the album and embarking on a tour, you’d be sorely mistaken. Today, the Canadian duo unveiled another piece to this fantastic album: a visual component that adds even more depth and will melt the minds of fans.
Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness: The Movie premiered on March 4 in Beverly Hills to a lucky crowd of industry members and devoted Zeds Dead fans. Now, the rest of the world can immerse themselves in the waves of nostalgia and infinite resonance of sound as they take a trip through different dimensions.
The analog white noise and perfectly placed samples that could only be heard on the album’s tracks previously are vibrantly brought to life throughout the film edited by Callum Gilles and Zeds Dead. Released in a 4:3 aspect ratio to enhance the nostalgic feel, the movie begins with a flicking of TV channels, almost as if you’re trying to find something to watch before the album’s title is prominently displayed.
From there, you’re off to the races as tracks like “Fall Away,” “Heartbeat,” “A Million Dreams,” “Sweet Memories,” and more are matched with visuals that range from movie clips of dancers and old films to images of space and vintage cartoons. Notably, these clips are all ones that would have been broadcast at some time in the past century, reinforcing the notion that these transmissions will forever be part of our universe well after they’ve run their course on Earth.
