Steve Aoki brought his wife, Sasha Sofine, on stage at Barasti Beach in Dubai as part of a gender reveal for the child they’re expecting.
Just when you thought Steve Aoki‘s stage show couldn’t get any more over the top, he’s announced that he and his wife, Sasha Sofine, are having a child with an onstage gender reveal — and yes, it involved cake.
In fact, it was “The most important cake of my life,” according to Aoki’s social media captions. The attached video shows him bringing Sofine on stage during his Saturday performance at Barasti Beach in Dubai. “This is a special moment. This is my wife, and we’re having a baby,” he says over the mic to uproarious cheers.
“We’re going to find out if it’s a boy or if it’s a girl,” Aoki continues before a stagehand gives a cake to Sofine with “Aoki” written in the frosting. She then shoves the cake in her superstar DJ husband’s face to reveal blue frosting as the words “IT’S A BOY” are displayed across the LED screen behind them.
Steve Aoki is the son of the late Hiroaki Aoki, who opened the Benihana restaurant chain. He started the record label Dim Mak in 1996, and his debut DJ mix compilation, Pillowface and HHis Airplane Chronicles, came out in 2008. Between 2010-2012, Aoki became internationally famous by aggressively touring.
Aoki was previously, he was married to Tiernan Cowling from 2015-2018. He got married to Sasha Sofine in a July 2024 ceremony in Montenegro. Neither Aoki nor Sofine have publicly shared when they expect their child to be born.
In the meantime, Steve Aoki is slated to continue touring with performances at Festival Carnauol in São Paulo, HQ2 Nightclub in Atlantic City, and EDC Mexico in Mexico City in the next month alone, not to mention multiple shows as part of his residency at OMNIA Nightclub in Las Vegas.
