Alesso Cancels Remaining Dates of Current Tour Due to Health Concerns

The news follows a spate of December cancellations from Swedish superstar DJ and producer Alesso.

Malaysian promoter Livescape took to social media to announce that Alesso will no longer be able to make his scheduled Kuala Lumpur performance on January 17. Not only that, but the Swedish “Calling” producer must cancel the remaining dates on his current tour as well.

“This decision follows medical recommendations after an intense touring schedule, as Alesso has been advised to take a much-needed break to focus on his health,” reads a statement shared by Livescape. “This is the first time in his 14-year career that Alesso has had to cancel a tour.”

It continues: “Touring is both exhilarating and demanding, often placing significant strain on performing artists’ physical and mental health. While their dedication to fans fuels unforgettable experiences, maintaining their health is essential for a sustainable career. We fully support Alesso during this time and wish him a speedy recovery”

Ahead of the Kuala Lumpur date, Alesso (real name Alessandro Lindblad) was scheduled to touch down in Aspen, Colorado for a show at the Belly Up Aspen tomorrow, January 14. It remains to be seen whether he will move forward with his March 30 date at Ultra Music Festival in Miami or his April 4 appearance at SILO in Dallas.

Contrary to Livescape’s statement, these most recent cancellations are now the second time Lindblad has had to call off tour dates. The first was last month, when he announced that he would no longer appear at the Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney iterations of Kygo’s Palm Tree Festival, not to mention MDLBEAST Soundstorm in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The impacts of burnout due to rigorous touring schedules are presently on the minds of members of the EDM community in light of the recently released Avicii documentary, I’m Tim. In 2021, Lindblad touched on his relationship with the late superstar in addition to his own hot-and-cold relationship with tour life in a conversation with Haute Living.

We here at EDM Identity wish Alesso a restful break from touring so he can pick back up where he left off with a rejunated sense of purpose.
