Beloved dubstep trio Ternion Sound has decided that 2025 will be the last year as a band and will embark on a farewell tour to help bring the project to a close.

Turn back the clock to 2016, and you’ll find Andrew Hill, Jack Denney, and Aric Okerman taking the first steps together as Ternion Sound. This project was launched with the intention of delivering quality bass music while also promoting sound system and old-school rave culture, integrity, and creativity. Since then, the trio grew a devoted following and saw success with releases on Deep, Dark & Dangerous, Infernal Sounds, Vision Recordings, and more. But today, they’ve shocked the bass community by announcing they’re splitting up.

Ternion Sound took to social media to drop the news that the project would be coming to a close this year, which arrived after consideration due to Andrew welcoming his first child in March and “other factors.”

From the onset, we created Ternion Sound for specific reasons and we’ve tried to stay true to those the whole time: Playing on sound systems that honor the music, integrity in how we portray ourselves, education, sustainability, and freedom to explore compositionally inside of bass music. Hopefully we’ve represented those ideals with our project and we hope to have inspired others to do the same.

While the Ternion Sound project might be ending, the trio shared that they will be embarking on solo journeys in the future. Additionally, there will be plenty of chances for fans to catch them throughout 2025 on their official Farewell Tour. “We’re in communication with a few of our favorite promotion companies already but we want to come out and play a lot this year to say goodbye and thanks for the support,” Ternion Sound said.

Dates for Ternion Sound’s Farewell Tour will surface soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. The trio also urged fans to share their favorite memories and more on their Instagram post.

After ten years of working for nonprofit organization Pro Player Foundation, Gilmore launched EDM Identity as a media outlet offering accurate informative coverage of the rave scene and electronic music as a whole. Although they cover comprehensive topic matter, they have taken special care in interviewing the likes of Armin van Buuren, Adventure Club, Gorgon City, Lane 8 and Afrojack. In addition to household names, they have also highlighted unsung heroes of the industry through their ID Spotlight segment. Whether he’s covering it or not, you can expect to find Grant Gilmore attending the next big electronic music event. To find out what’s next on his itinerary, follow him via the social links below.
