UNDERWAR3 is gearing up for their massive New Year’s Eve extravaganza, and headliners Dani Thorne, Fei-Fei, DEA MAGNA, and girl_irl swung by to share their thoughts on the underground scene in LA ahead of the show.

The underground scene in Los Angeles is thriving with events, and UNDERWAR3 is helping lead the charge. These party-throwers have been consistently bringing some of the best that Southern California has to offer in this space, and one look at their lineups will show you how forward-thinking they’ve been.

From spring flings to Halloween frights, UNDERWAR3 has churned out event after event throughout 2024, and there was no doubt they’d bring the year to a close with one hell of a bang. They’re planning to do just that on December 31 with the UNDERWAR3 NYE Festival, which is set to feature two stages of booming beats at a private location in Downtown Los Angeles under the bridge.

While the lineup is stacked for the UNDERWAR3 NYE Festival, one aspect that defines it the most is its four headliners, all of whom are women helping shape the future of the techno scene. Dani Thorne, Dea Magna, Fei-Fei, and girl_irl are all set to throw down at this New Year’s Eve soiree, and each will bring their own unique twist on rave-ready techno sounds along with them. There’s no better place to be if you want to immerse yourself in some dynamic underground sounds as the final seconds of 2024 tick away.

Before these four standout artists take the stage, we caught up with them to get their thoughts on the underground scene and New Year’s resolutions. Tickets for the UNDERWAR3 NYE Festival are on sale now, with VIP and open bar options available. Head to Posh to grab your passes before it’s too late, and read on for their takes!

What are your thoughts on the underground scene in LA?

I’m so inspired by the underground LA scene right now. If you haven’t experienced it yet, come out and feel that indescribable feeling. It’s kind of how I started getting into the scene, so it’s a full circle moment and incredible to see how it’s grown. Doing my first afters show last year inspired my current sound and rebrand.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution for 2025?

My New Year’s resolution is to build on consistency. My project kicked off this year, and I’m juggling a lot of categories to make it happen. It’s so exciting, and I’m looking forward to the growth it’ll bring both to me and my artistic evolution.

What are your thoughts on the underground scene in LA?

I’m so f*cking proud to call LA my home. The LA underground is the c*ntiest. You can lose yourself in every flavor of music and subculture your heart desires. Where else can you see Brutalismus 3000 on a Monday night? Or party in an old abandoned grocery store in Ktown that feels like you’re transported to a European underground? Or play with Boys Noize at a secret after in a sex dungeon? Or DJ under the 110 freeway? On any given weekend, there are 10+ shows, and they’re all popping off.

LA is unique because our scene is so diverse. We’re tight-knit, and we all support each other. I love helping other femme artists get booked and appreciate all the homies who are booking fun and diverse lineups and working hard to throw the sickest parties every single weekend.
Shout out to Underwar3, CyberRodeo, LA Raver, LickNDip, Niteslut, and Techtonik for having me this year! I love u all. And especially to Underwar3 for being the first to embrace me and my c*nt club in full force. NYE under the bridge party’s going to be f*cking wild.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution for 2025?

World domination. Throw the first c*nt club rave.

What are your thoughts on the underground scene in LA?

I believe that the LA underground scene is truly thriving right now, with a party happening nearly every night of the week. It has grown to rival the major clubs, offering incredible opportunities for both up-and-coming and established DJs to connect with broader audiences. There’s also a vibrant variety of genres, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution for 2025?

Practicing “surrendering and non-resistance.” Non-resistance means letting go of the need to control everything, trusting in universal timing, and believing in a higher plan. It fosters acceptance, mindfulness, and gratitude, allowing us to flow with life’s events rather than struggle against them. By surrendering, we reduce stress, embrace growth, and align with opportunities beyond our immediate understanding.

What are your thoughts on the underground scene in LA?

I’m a huge supporter of underground scenes; I grew up bouncing between punk, DIY, and electronic ones. With LA specifically, I think it’s such an amazing melting pot of authentic talent – underground spaces really make room for people to do their own thing and experiment with less outside pressure.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution for 2025?

More time spent creating and living in the moment with the people I love and care about!
