Rising star YDG sits down with EDM Identity to discuss his latest single, touring, and more.

It’s easy to say that dubstep and experimental bass producer YDG has had an extraordinary year. From the massive hit “Diamonds” to his viral remix of “I Like The Way You Kiss Me” by Artemas, he has amassed millions of streams across multiple platforms, garnering the support of fans and DJs alike. YDG’s breakthrough is a testament to his perseverance and undeniable production talent. Hitting ten thousand followers on TikTok in April, he has officially become a revered name in his respective genre.

With fans clamoring to hear their favorite YDG songs live, festivals snapped at the opportunity to have one of dubstep’s newest stars on their lineup. And while appearances at Forbidden Kingdom, Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge, and Get Freaky beefed up his resume, YDG’s 2pm circuitGROUNDS performance at EDC Orlando proved to be a career milestone.

“It was literally a dream come true to see so many people come to the festival at that hour,” he shared. “It really proved that everything I have been working for has been recognized.”

Although the year is winding down, YDG is still firing all cylinders as he dropped his latest original production “Echo” on Rezz‘s HypnoVizion label. He said, “It has been a goal of mine to release on HypnoVizion, so to see it come to life has been an amazing feeling.” Featuring haunting vocals and wobbling basslines, YDG’s newest release displays his signature grimy sound while putting forth a track that feels fresh and exciting.

I wanted a record that combined the old school dub feel with a new school energetic sound that would fit well into my festival sets. The result was “Echo.“

2024 has been a year filled with accomplished goals. Case in point: another of YDG’s aspirations is finally coming to life as he embarks on his first headline tour. The You + Me Tour kicked off on November 14 in Charleston, South Carolina. The enormous, 39-date jaunt will enthuse attendees as YDG showcases his viral remixes while blending in his original tracks, showcasing his full production range coupled with new visuals to compliment it all.

As for the future, YDG continues to aim for the stars as he pushes the boundaries of his creativity. “I would love to work with Subtronics and Skrillex if the opportunity was there,” he said. “They are both such pioneers in the space.” While much what lies ahead is unforeseen, if you’re attending a festival in 2025, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to catch a killer set from YDG.

Stream “Echo” by YDG on your preferred streaming platform, grab tickets for future dates of the You + Me Tour, and be sure to follow YDG on social media to keep up with releases and future festival performances.
