The Insomniac staff member was injured in an EDC Orlando setup accident and passed away in the hospital.
Yesterday, the Orlando Police Department reported that an individual had died following an accident at Camping World Stadium, where setup for EDC Orlando was underway. The festival’s organizer, Insomniac, has now confirmed that the deceased was a member of its staff.
Police had received a call at 3pm yesterday indicating that the accident had taken place. “The Orlando Police Department was made aware of an accident involving the death of an individual at Camping World Stadium,” reads their statement. “Our officers are currently conducting a death investigation. We do not have any additional information to provide at this time.”
Insomniac sent a statement of its own to EDM Identity this afternoon. “We are heartbroken to confirm the loss of a beloved stagehand following a tragic accident during the event setup,” it reads. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to their family, friends, and fellow crew members.”
The statement continues: “We honor their contributions to our team and are committed to supporting everyone through this difficult time. Safety remains our highest priority, and we are working closely with authorities during their investigation. We grieve alongside our festival family and are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our team members.”
No further details of the accident have been shared with the public at the time of writing. The deceased has not been named as police continue to inform next of kin.
EDC Orlando, which will run from November 8-10, has taken place at annually at the stadium-adjacent Tinker Field since it debuted in 2011. Last year, the festival reportedly drew 300,000 attendees — a major increase over 2022’s figure of 108,000. EDC Orlando is part of Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival brand whose flagship festival is held in Las Vegas each year.
