Beatport’s catalog of over 12 million tracks is now available in FLAC files, which combine high quality with fast load times.
Beatport officially launched at the beginning of 2024, disrupting the market for dance music recordings as the rising popularity of CDJ players led more DJs to seek out music in MP3 format. Now, the industry-leading download store has announced that its full catalog will also be available in the form of Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) files.
Those who subscribe to the service’s Beatport Streaming Professional plan will get access to FLAC files of the more than 12 million dance music recordings it has amassed over the past 20 years. Meanwhile, Beatsource Streaming Pro+ subscribers will be able to download any of the 7 million tracks comprising its open format catalog.
Striking a balance between smaller file sizes and higher fidelity, FLAC files offer clear value to DJs, especially those livestreaming their sets. The filetype is supported by hardware and software brands like Serato, Pioneer, rekordbox, and Traktor.
“At Beatport, our mission has always been to provide DJs with the highest quality music and the best tools to elevate their performances,” said Beatport Group CRO Helen Sartory in a statement. “The introduction of lossless FLAC audio to Beatport Streaming is a game-changer, ensuring that our subscribers can deliver the ultimate sound experience to their audiences. This upgrade reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence in the world of DJ music.”
Beatport also continues to introduce initiatives dedicated to helping resolve social issues surrounding the music industry. Just last week, the online music marketplace announced the third annual Diversity + Parity Fund, which will allocate $150,000 in funding to various diversity and inclusion efforts.
