Breakaway Carolina will run from 6-12am instead of its original runtime of 4-11pm.
The year of festivals getting sidelined by bad weather continues. At least in Breakaway Carolina‘s case, it’s looking like it will merely cause a short delay. Organizers of the Charlotte iteration of Breakaway Music Fetsival have announced that the Charlotte Motor Speedway‘s gates will open at 6pm instead of 4pm, and the festival will run until midnight instead of 11pm.
“Due to the recent weather, and to ensure that the festival grounds are ready for an amazing weekend, we are delaying doors and extending the show,” reads a statement Breakaway posted on Instagram. “Thank you for your patience. Please continue to monitor our socials for further updates.”
Breakaway has yet to share updated set times for day one of Breakaway Carolina. Artists like Marshmello, Alesso, and Chase & Status were billed to perform on the Main Stage, while Apashe and Wax Motif were among those slated to perform on The Launch Pad, a stage curated by Brownies & Lemonade.
Today’s weather disruption was already on Breakaway’s radar earlier in the week. On Tuesday, they posted, “We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for this weekend. The safety of our fans, artists, and staff is our top priority, and we are working with local authorities and experts to stay informed.”
Breakaway Music Festival originated in Columbus, Ohio, first taking place at the Columbus Crew Stadium in 2013. It has expanded aggressively in recent years, now boasting events in places like Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, and even the Bay Area.
It remains to be seen whether Breakaway Carolina will be delayed further due to inclement weather. EDM Identity will update this developing story as additional details are made available.
