John Digweed’s team has confirmed that he’s been forced to pull out of shows in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Dallas after falling ill.
John Digweed has been forced to pull out of gigs in Guadalajara on September 26, Mexico City on September 27, and Dallas on September 28 while he undergoes treatment in a Los Angeles hospital.
Guadalajara venue Bar Americas first shared the news in a September 26 statement. It said that Digweed “has been hospitalized since Monday,” forcing them to “postpone his performance today.” Organizers explained that they intended to wait for Digweed to make the announcement, but they decided to go public on account of how many attendees are traveling from out of town for the sold-out show.
Mexico City promoter Cookie Presenta, which booked Digweed for a back-to-back set with longtime collaborator Sasha, echoed similar sentiments in a statement of their own. “We are very sorry to report that John Digweed is hospitalized in Los Angeles, and his condition is very delicate and uncertain at this moment,” they wrote. “John gradually became ill and he thought what he had was temporary. We have been waiting for John to make a statement about his health, but the fact that he is not able to publish anything personally is something that worries us.”
John Digweed’s team issued a statement on Friday, September 27 confirming the two cancellations and adding that he will also be unable to perform at SILO in Dallas. “John is very ill and in the hospital,” reads a post to his Instagram page. “Due to his present condition, he will sadly not be able to attend any of his concerts this weekend…”
Bar Americas has promised that fans can choose between attending a makeup date or receiving a refund. Cookie Presenta has offered the same, along with a third option in which attendees who come to see Sasha perform alone will get a 60% discount on their makeup date.
A spokesperson on behalf of John Digweed did not immediately respond to EDM Identity’s request for comment. This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.
