LYTE abruptly shut down earlier this month, causing issues for many who purchased or sold their passes to Lost Lands this year.
The festival scene has been in rocky shape over the past few years. While many beloved experiences have canceled or postponed their editions, the sudden closure of LYTE has made an even larger impact on those still operating. LYTE, a ticketing platform launched in 2014, abruptly discontinued operations earlier this month. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are owed to promoters, and tickets have been put in limbo for attendees, including those who used the platform for Lost Lands this year.
Yesterday, Billboard reported that Lost Lands and North Coast Music Festival had filed lawsuits against LYTE. While the lawsuit from Lost Lands is heavily redacted, the report states that it is owed $330,000 from the now-defunct ticketing platform. That wasn’t the only hurdle that APEX Event Management, the company behind Lost Lands, faced, as attendees who used the platform remained without answers or payments from LYTE.
This has since prompted an official response from Lost Lands. “While LYTE has gone silent, we want to do whatever we can to take care of our community,” the festival organizers shared. “We have created a solution that we hope will help anyone who is awaiting payment from LYTE, regardless of it coming at a very high cost to us.”
Lost Lands’s plan gives those who sold their tickets on the platform the chance to submit a claim with proof of what LYTE owed them. Due to the complex nature of this issue, these claims will be reviewed and verified until November 6. Once verified, a payment will be made to those affected by November 20. Those looking to submit a claim can do so from today until October 9 by emailing [email protected] and filling out the claim form that the festival responds with.
Additionally, Lost Lands added some clarity in the usage of LYTE’s platform, stating that the tickets sold on there were ones who were part of failed payment plans. “This year, there were a very small number of tickets released in this process due to the event being sold out,” they stated. “LYTE had a significant waitlist of people hoping to attend the event, so instead of relaunching tickets on Front Gate, we fulfilled a few hundred tickets to this waitlist on LYTE at final tier pricing.”
