TOKiMONSTA Postpones Album Release, Cancels Tour Due to Personal Matter

“I know in my heart that I won’t be able to give you the performance and energy that you all deserve,” wrote TOKiMONSTA.

Bou isn’t the only popular artist to pause their music career due to a family crisis this week. Los Angeles DJ and producer TOKiMONSTA has shared that she must postpone the November 22 release of her upcoming album, Eternal Reverie, and call off her tour running from September 28-November 30.

TOKiMONSTA (real name Jennifer Lee) attributed the decision to “an extremely urgent personal matter” in an Instagram post. “I am pretty crushed to share this news with you, but I know in my heart that I won’t be able to give you the performance and energy that you all deserve,” she wrote.

“You guys deserve me at my best and that’s just not where I am right now,” Lee continued. “I am safe and healthy but at this time, I need to direct all my energy to a family member who needs my support.”

Lee’s post went on to say that she was “struggling to navigate this challenge,” which she wrote “feels more emotionally taxing than anything I’ve faced before.” That includes her 2016 Moyamoya brain surgery, which temporarily left her unable to speak or make music.

Jennifer Lee got laid off from her position with a video game publisher during the subprime mortgage loan recession, prompting her to pursue music full time. Eternal Reverie marks her seventh studio-length album. She announced it alongside the release of its lead single, “Switch It,” back in June.

“I’m asking for privacy and space as I work through this, and I really hope that I’ll come out of this stronger and ready to connect with you all again,” Lee said at the end of her statement. “Thank you so much for your love and support. It truly means the world to me.”
