On the other side of a Rothbury Council meeting, Electric Forest will take place from June 17-22 in 2025.
This year’s inclement weather won’t prevent next year’s edition of Electric Forest from happening, but other factors will slightly shift its date range. The 2025 event will take place from June 17-22 instead of from June 24-29.
According to the White Lake Mirror, the council of Rothbury, Michigan — where the festival takes place — shared that it had received a communication from AEG Presents Business Strategy VP Chad Cheek requesting the new time frame. Artist and vendor availability reportedly led to the decision. The event’s permit allows such a date change as long as it’s requested with eight months of lead time.
Electric Forest has not formally announced its 2025 event. Dates for this year’s event were confirmed by organizers all the way back in November 2023.
Not too long afterward, Electric Forest made moves to secure its place in Rothbury for many more years to come. Following a Village of Rothbury council meeting in January, officials approved a permit that allows the event to return annually through 2035.
Fittingly, Electric Forest was first called Rothbury Festival when it first took place in 2008. It eked out a niche for its balance between electronic music acts such as Flosstradamus and Thievery Corporation and jam bands like Widespread Panic and The String Cheese Incident, with hip-hop artists like Snoop Dogg thrown in for good measure.
This year, artists like Subtronics, John Summit, and Umphrey’s McGee took the stage. Electric Forest 2024 was also overshadowed by the untimely death of a man named Alexander Lewis after he was transported to a nearby hospital from the event.
It remains to be seen whether organizers will announce additional changes in the lead up to Electric Forest 2025.
