ALLEYCVT sat down with us at HARD Summer to discuss collaborations, how she structures her sets, her upcoming tour, and more!

The rise of ALLEYCVT over the past few years has been impressive to watch. This dubstep maven has launched her way into bass lovers’ hearts, rapidly climbing ranks with her carefully curated releases. Combining heavy basslines with her own compelling vocals, ALLEYCVT’s talents are quickly being noticed in the scene.

Releases like “ONE FOR YOU” with Levity, “RELIGION,” “GLITCH,” and “BACK2LIFE” showcase the power of her production and passion behind her voice. With her project gaining traction, she has already performed at massive festivals worldwide, including Rampage Open Air, Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Electric Forest. Another festival first this year saw her make her HARD Summer debut at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Park, adjacent to SoFi Stadium.

As she took over the decks on the Green Stage at 3:00pm, fans showed up bright and early on the second day of the festival to see ALLEYCVT in her element. When asked how she brings something special to each set, she said, “I try to make brand new sets for every festival, but obviously with the time crunches and just how everything goes, it’s really hard to do that. So, I try to switch it up in the best way I can and add sections from other sets along with new IDs.“

She continued, “Even if it’s not finished, I just try to throw it in there to see if people like it or not and get a gauge of what people are feeling… I try to make it special for the first time [fans] are hearing it. It definitely adds an extra layer to the set.”

Her unique blend of lending her own vocals to the music she makes has set her apart from other bass producers. While some artists prefer to start on a certain element when creating a track, ALLEYCVT tells us that’s not necessarily the case for her.

“It goes back and forth for me,” she said. “Sometimes I start with the melody first because I do have a songwriting background. I love good melody, and that inspires me to write lyrics. Sometimes I do the drop first, and then I write the lyrics after and build around it. So it kind of all just depends on how I’m feeling.”

Diving further into her releases, her recent single “ONE FOR YOU,” a collaboration with trio and best friends Levity, has been dominating in their sets. ALLEYCVT tells us how she approaches collaborations, explaining that she will mostly start a track and then send it off to an artist she thinks will sound perfect on it. Other times, she’ll receive a track from an artist and then add her own flair to it.

“I want [the collaborator] to add their vibe to it because I love when another artist collaborates with me or vice versa. They bring all of their talent to the table and make the song so much better,” she said.

Her preference is to start collaborations rather than finishing them off. She observed, “I definitely go about [collaborations] in a different way than when I’m making my own music. A weakness of mine right now is if people are sending me songs to finish, I sometimes have a hard time, thinking, ‘What do I add to this?’ I overthink… but I’m working on it.”

Pivoting to her upcoming fall tour, ALLEYCVT gave us insight into what fans can expect on her second-ever tour. “The FEEL IT tour starts in October,” she said. “It’s basically going to be representing my new EP. It’s got a lot of new music and a lot of new visuals.”

I’m trying to give the best experience I can to the people, and I just want them to leave feeling refreshed and just get all of their emotions and feelings out on the dancefloor. That’s what it’s all about. It’s pretty simple.

As ALLEYCVT looks to the future, she reflects on her biggest takeaways through her rise in the scene. She said, “I’ve learned a lot, but I think the biggest thing is probably time management, which I’m still really bad at, but I’ve gotten a little better. Another thing is just being nicer to myself and reminding myself to breathe and take care of my mental health before work.”

The work will always reflect how you’re feeling, and if I’m not good in here, then my music’s not going to be good. I’m trying to find a balance between having a good time and also putting in the work. It’s all about having that work-life balance.

ALLEYCVT

We’re looking forward to seeing everything that comes next from this rising artist. Stay tuned for more releases and upcoming shows from ALLEYCVT, and be sure to catch her this fall on her FEEL IT tour!
