Forensic Records co-owner Fordal is opening a new chapter for the imprint with the launch of its new sister label, Twelvepoint, and spun a mix to celebrate.
Longstanding UK label Forensic Records has championed underground house music styles since the late ’90s. Originally started by the promoters and resident DJs of Shindig, it welcomed a new era in 2020 after relaunching with Lexicon Avenue and Fordal at the helm. Since then, the imprint has continued to deliver plenty of tasty tunes, and as they continue to expand further, they’ve launched a sister label, Twelvepoint, to help deepen their grip on dynamic, club-ready styles.
“Forensic is iconic in its field of progressive house and we very much wanted to remain true to that sound,” Fordal shared. “However, we send so much amazing music that we wanted to have an outlet to showcase, with new and established artists ranging from electronica and indie dance to breaks and melodic house and techno. We’re buzzed about the future of what Twelvepoint can become.”
Setting the tone for the soundscapes that will permeate Twelvepoint is none other than label co-owner and A&R Fordal with “Grabbing Smoke.” This indie dance-fueled track is officially due out on August 16 and features a gorgeous atmosphere with layers of melodic elements and breathy vocals that creep in from the distance. You can’t help but imagine losing yourself on the dancefloor when this one plays. Paired with it is a remix from Aubrey Fry, who adds extra ambiance by twisting it into a more hypnotizing ride into the depths of the night.
To celebrate the launch of Twelvepoint and the release of his latest tune, Fordal spun up a captivating mix. It includes tunes from two of Fordal’s favorite labels at the moment, Selador and Nightcolours, some unreleased gems, and both mixes of “Grabbing Smoke” for your listening pleasure.
