Inglewood Mayor James Butts has released an official statement regarding noise complaints following the recent edition of HARD Summer Music Festival.
HARD Summer Music Festival‘s future at Hollywood Park outside of SoFi Stadium seemed dubious after last weekend’s event spurred hundreds of noise complaints. Inglewood Mayor James Butts has now spoken up about the matter — and unlike the El Segundo City Manager’s statement, he hasn’t implied that the Insomniac-run festival is going anywhere.
“We were perplexed at the sound propagation experienced in the South Bay, because there have been multiple outdoor concerts on the SoFi campus without this issue,” Butts stated. According to the statement, the Pink Stage, located on the elevated American Airlines Plaza, was determined to be a “major contributor to the issue.” Due to this, no stages will be permitted in that area of Hollywood Park at SoFi Stadium at future events.
City officials worked with Insomniac on Saturday and Sunday to alleviate the issue of bass frequencies, which can be affected by stage position, reflection off buildings, and even atmospheric conditions like wind. The measures implemented between the first and second days of the festival led to “a significant decrease in call volume,” but “some areas continued to experience bass vibrations.”
The mayor also stated that “a more comprehensive plan when it comes to addressing sound and bass frequency management” will be implemented at future events.
This year’s edition of HARD Summer brought notable artists to Hollywood Park at SoFi Stadium, including Chris Lake and FISHER, REZZMAU5, Disclosure, Zeds Dead, Boys Noize, Dillon Francis, Subtronics, Chase & Status, and Eli Brown.
