Tomcraft aka Thomas Brückner was perhaps best known for his 2002 single, “Loneliness,” but he remained active all the way up to his death.

Another untimely passing has rocked the worldwide dance music community as Tomcraft aka Thomas Brückner has died at age 49. No cause of death has been given at the time of writing.

Brückner’s family shared the news of the Munich DJ and producer’s death on his social media accounts. “With a heavy heart we need to inform you that yesterday, the 15.07.2024, our beloved father and husband has passed away,” reads their post. “We will forever carry you in our hearts and love you until we’re reunited again.”

In a Facebook post, Brückner’s fellow German artist Westbam wrote about his death with an air of disbelief. “I chatted with him three days ago and he said he was recovering from a flue but seemed in good spirits,” reads part of his post. “Tom had fantastic new music coming and was very much looking forward to playing with all of us at Rave The Planet.”

Brückner’s career started when he was only a teenager and began picking up steam when he was signed to Munich label Kosmo Records at only 17. A few years later, he began seeing modest success with progressive trance records like “Rollercoaster” and “This is no House” — but it was when he started collaborating with Eniac in 1996 that he honed in on his signature blend of electro and trance.

The two collaborated on singles like “Viva,” “Prozac,” and “Silence,” but it was their 2002 record “Loneliness” that stands out as the most successful Tomcraft single to date. Its inventive sound design and iconic yet artful vocal sample from Andrea Martin‘s “Share The Love” propelled it to #1 on the UK charts.

We here at EDM Identity express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Tomcraft aka Thomas Brückner during what can only be a difficult time.
