Sebastian Ingrosso cited “unforeseen circumstances” as having led to his decision.
Ultra Europe attendees looking forward to Sebastian Ingrosso‘s Friday, July 12 set were met with unfortunate news earlier in the day. The world-famous member of Swedish House Mafia pulled out of the gig, keeping his specific reasons for doing so close to the chest.
“Heartbroken to come with this news but due of unforeseen circumstances I won’t be able to play Ultra Croatia tonight, my brother Axwell will be there representing SHM tomorrow, reads a statement shared to Ingrosso’s Instagram Story. “Sorry I couldn’t be there.”
When Swedish House Mafia originally formed in 2008, the supergroup consisted of Ingrosso, Axwell, Steve Angello, and Eric Prydz. The lattermost member left before hit singles like “One,” “Don’t You Worry Child,” and “Save the World” propelled them to international stardom. The rest of the trio disbanded in 2013 but reunited again in 2018.
Since then, though, cancellations have been a recurring theme of the Swedish House Mafia storyline. Their 2019 reunion tour was dotted with called-off appearances at festivals like Ultra Korea and Weekend Festival in Finland, and 2022 saw them pull out of numerous US appearances on their Paradise Again World Tour due to low ticket sales.
Sebastian Ingrosso has also individually racked up a number of cancellations in recent memory. Among them were his 2023 appearance at Echostage in Washington, DC and his set at last year’s edition of Tomorrowland Brasil.
Ultra Europe took place at Park Mladeži in Split, Croatia from Friday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14. EDM headliners who performed the 2024 event included Adam Beyer, Armin van Buuren, Boris Brejcha, Hardwell, and Martin Garrix. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the gathering, which is an offshoot of Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
