Illenium Postpones Toronto Shows Due to Surgery Complications

GORDO filled in for Illenium at Toronto nightclub Rebel for Canada Day Eve on Sunday, June 30.

Even an artist as consistent as Illenium needs to cancel shows from time to time. The superstar DJ and producer was forced to postpone his double-header at Rebel in Toronto from June 30 and July 1 to September 1 and 2 on account of complications following a recent surgery.

Earlier last week, Illenium (real name Nicholas Miller) had shared with fans that he underwent a medical operation without specifying what kind. “I got surgery on Monday so imma be a litttlee slow moving for these shows coming up,” he posted on X on June 27. “But I’m cleared and nothings gonna stop meeee.”

Then, on June 30, it turned out that fate had other plans. “Hey all, unfortunately I’m going to have to cancel my shows in Toronto tonight and tomorrow,” Miller posted on X. “I went in for surgery last week and I’m now experiencing some complications that I need to address immediately. I need to go to the hospital as soon as I get home.”

Miller’s post continued: “I hate missing shows and I’m so sorry that I can’t make it. I really just need to address these health concerns as soon as possible. I hope to see you guys in Toronto as soon as I can.”

INK Events, who promoted the two shows, shared that GORDO would fill in Miller on June 30, which was Canada Day Eve. Tickets are valid for the rescheduled September dates, they said, and they offered refunds through June 2 for any fans who preferred to go that route.

Last week, Miller also celebrated his 12th year of sobriety. In 2012, he suffered a near-fatal heroin overdose, as he told EDM.com last year. Had the unthinkable happened, the world wouldn’t have witnessed the meteoric rise of his Illenium project, to which he owes headline events at Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and his own Ember Shores festivals in Cancun.

Here’s to hoping Illenium makes a speedy recovery and is able to return to his regularly scheduled programming soon.
