Emily Stokes became unwell at a drum and bass event called Worried About Henry at the Dreamland amusement park in Margate, England.

A 17-year-old girl named Emily Stokes passed away after attending a drum and bass gathering called Worried About Henry at an amusement park called Dreamland in Margate, England.

According to DJ Mag, Dreamland’s medical team transported Stokes to Margate’s Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital after she became unwell. Kent Online reports that the local police learned of her passing when they received a call around 6pm BST on Saturday, June 29.

Emily Stokes’ sister, Megan Stokes, launched a GoFundMe to help cover memorial costs. In its description, she wrote that “Emily was the kindest person you could ever meet” and that “she was so full of life.” She started the fundraiser in hopes that “we can give her the best send off.”

Megan’s description also names “an overdose from being spiked” as Emily’s cause of death. The local police did not receive any reports of spiking, and an investigation into the cause of death is currently ongoing.

Thanet District Council District Councillor Marc Rattigan argued in a letter that the incident was grounds to suspend further dance music concerts at Dreamland. He claimed that additional attendees were hospitalized and entrants were not properly screened on the way in.

“While concert-style music events have been a positive influence on Margate’s regeneration, these particular raves are bringing unwanted trouble, including anti-social behaviour and increased drug activity,” he wrote. “This is tarnishing the town’s reputation. It is crucial for us, as a council, to ensure that such events are managed effectively.”

We here at EDM Identity express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Emily Stokes during what can only be a difficult time. We wish emphasize the importance of testing your substances and exercising moderation if you choose to partake.
