The 20-year-old man fell ill at Hidden and passed away later in a nearby hospital.
Sunday’s event at Hidden was called of after a 20-year-old man became unwell early in the morning at the Manchester club and later passed away.
According to a statement by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the as-yet-unidentified man was transported from Hidden to a hospital at 2:30am. “Tragically, despite the best efforts of emergency services, he later passed away,” it reads.
An investigation into the man’s cause of death has been launched and is currently ongoing, according to the statement.
The nightclub also issued a joint statement with local promoter Teletech, who organized the Saturday evening party. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss that occurred at our venue in the early hours of this morning,” it reads. “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.“
The statement continues: “Hidden has always been a place for people to come together, enjoy music and culture in a safe space and we are heartbroken by this incident. The safety and well-being of our customers and staff are always our top priority and in light of this tragedy, we have decided to cancel the event on Sunday as a mark of respect and to allow us to evaluate with our team.“
Hidden opened in 2015 after its owners sarted working to renovate an old cotton mill on the Mersey River in 2013. Adorned in graffiti, it promotes its underground-leaning events minimally, depending largely on word-of-mouth advertisement as well as billings such as Sam Paganini, Chaos in the CBD, Partiboi69, and Alix Perez.
We here at EDM Identity express our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the man who passed away during what can only be a difficult time.
