Las Vegas Metro Police Department reports that 28 individuals were arrested, but no major incidents or injuries occurred during EDC Las Vegas this year.
The dust has officially settled from the most recent edition of EDC Las Vegas, and news is beginning to surface surrounding this past weekend’s event which hosted 170,000 attendees each day at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In a recent report published by Fox 5 Vegas, Las Vegas police stated that there were 28 felony arrests during EDC Las Vegas this year – 12 on Friday, 5 on Saturday, and 11 on Sunday. Police spokesman Luis Vidal also reported that there were 17 misdemeanor arrests and 85 citations handed out over the course of the weekend. While the number of arrests and citations was up compared to last year’s edition, it is still much lower than in earlier years of the festival, according to the story from KTNV.
No specific details were released surrounding the nature of the arrests or misdemeanors. That said, videos have begun to surface on social media surrounding the apparent detainment of pickpocketers who were caught with stolen cell phones from attendees at the festival this year.
The Las Vegas Metro Police Department mentioned that there were “no major incidents or injuries reported during the entire weekend” in their official statement post-festival. As of publishing, no information has become available on the number of medical calls.
Las Vegas police and partner agencies were on-site at the festival to ensure the safety and well-being of those in attendance and help with traffic control. Additionally, they worked together to provide safety tips for those who were planning to party all weekend long in the desert before the festival kicked off.
