Names like Maya Jane Coles, DJ Harvey, and Will Clarke are sure to draw eyes to the Brunch Electronik Los Angeles lineup.
Brunch Electronik isn’t pussyfooting around its first official stateside event. The Barcelona event brand has shared the full lineup for its July 6 event at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, a bill that covers a vibrant cross section of the house and techno spectrum.
Afterlife signee and rising melodic techno artist Colyn appears on Brunch Electronik Los Angeles debut edition’s lineup — and for good reason. Expansive yet focused, his cinematic sound signature will be well received by house and techno fans in the City of Angels.
Meanwhile, DJ Harvey will attract a more refined sort of dance music lover. Initially a drummer for the band Ersatz from 1978 to 1983, he bought his first pair of Technics in the mid-’80s and played hip-hop, house and garage alongside the likes of Francois K and Kenny Carpenter in London by the early ’90s.
A tastemaker in her own right, Maya Jane Coles adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the lineup of the Brunch Electronik Los Angeles debut event. As well known for her immersive DJ sets as she is albums like Comfort (2013), Take Flight (2017), and Night Creature (2021), her performance promises to dazzle all fortunate enough to attend.
Stavroz is another name sure to appeal to fans of dance music’s subversive undercurrent. Their set is billed as a live performance, meaning all four members of the Belgian act will unite for a showing made all the more memorable by instrumentals and other live elements.
Another name that will stoke interest Brunch Electronik’s Los Angeles debut is Will Clarke. Between releases like “Hallelujah” and “Take Me Higher” on labels like Drumcode, Filth on Acid, and Polydor, the Bristol-born DJ, producer, songwriter, and podcaster has cemented his place in dance music.
Last but not least on the lineup is MANICS. For well over a decade, the San Francisco-based live act and Popgang Records bosses have turned heads with their blend of indie dance, dark disco, and melodic techno.
Brunch Electronik started in 2013, initially as a Sunday afternoon party series in Barcelona. It has since expanded to markets such as Lisbon, Paris, Madrid, Lima, and São Paulo; last year also marked the brand’s first large-scale festival in Barcelona. Partnering on Brunch Electronik’s US debut are Los Angeles promoters Minimal Effort and SBCLTR.
