The Brooklyn Mirage is opening a week early with an event headlined by Swedish House Mafia.
The Brooklyn Mirage was previously set to open its doors in May, kicking off the 2024 season with gatherings headlined by deadmau5, Dixon, and Armin van Buuren. The venue has now sent EDM fans reeling with a surprise announcement: It will open ahead of schedule to play host to a performance by Swedish House Mafia this Saturday, April 27.
“Swedish House Mafia open The Brooklyn Mirage one week early,” reads the caption of a social media post published by The Brooklyn Mirage. “Saturday, April 27. One Night Only. This is WEEK ZERO.”
The gig marks Swedish House Mafia’s only scheduled 2024 performance as a trio in the US as of right now. Afterward, their itinerary takes them to festivals like Ultra Korea, Garorock, and Panama Open Air, with appearances at massives like Tomorrowland in Belgium and superclubs like Ushuaïa Ibiza later in the season. Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello will, however, perform by himself at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas on September 22.
Swedish House Mafia formed in 2008, initially consisting of Angello, Axwell, Eric Prydz, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Prydz left the supergroup early on, and the three remaining artists went on to achieve superstar status on the back of hit singles like “One” and “Don’t You Worry Child” featuring John Martin. Swedish House Mafia disbanded in 2013 but reunited five years later, releasing albums such as Paradise Again in 2021 and a live version of the album in 2023.
While the announcement was met with excitement from dance music fans, many have taken the opportunity to ask about Electric Zoo refunds in the comments. Avant Gardner owns both The Brooklyn Mirage and Electric Zoo, and the festival has been embroiled in legal disputes following its disastrous 2023 edition.
