With a capacity of 1,500, Avyca will occupy the unit once occupied by Sankeys and Octan.
The White Isle is about to get a new nightclub. The 1,500-capacity Avyca, as it’s called, will open sometime this summer with a specific grand opening date yet to be announced.
Avyca will be located in the Playa d’en Bossa beachside area of Ibiza, in the space occupied by Sankeys Ibiza from 2011-2018. The same unit was briefly home to another club called Octan, which opened in 2019 and then again in 2021. Following renovations, it is ready to open under its new name for the 2024 season.
The sole post on Avyca’s Instagram account is simply captioned “Chapter one.” It doesn’t offer any further details, although the club’s management has given potential attendees an idea of what to expect in comments elsewhere.
DJ Mag reports that the Avyca team plans to focus on up-and-coming artists, predominantly catering to fans of house and techno. At the end of 2023, the club hosted two soft opening events that featured performances by artists like Ferro, Tania Vulcano, and Voigtmann.
“Avyca offers DJs and brands that are on the rise — a venture into taking things to the next level. A launching platform for Ibiza, let’s say,” said Music Director Andrei Hancu, according to Mixmag. “Because of that advantage, we can be a precursor. I’m certain that DJs who play in the club this year and in the future will become the next big stars.”
Ibiza is home to some of the world’s most famous superclubs; among them are storied venues like Amnesia and Hï Ibiza. One of the island’s smaller new nightclubs is Club Chinois, a 1,000-capacity room that opened toward the beginning of the 2022 season.
Until Avyca announces more direct communication channels, event listings for the brand-new club can be found on its Resident Advisor page.
