The Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival team is opening Cannonball Arts in a 66,000-square-foot space previously occupied by a Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Downtown Seattle is slated to see the grand opening of a massive, new music venue come spring 2025. It’s called Cannonball Arts, and it will reimagine a 66,000-square-foot space whose previous tenant was a Bed, Bath & Beyond location.
Construction is currently underway on the building, which stretches across two whole city blocks. The team behind Seattle’s annual Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival is has signed a five-year lease on the Third Avenue unit, enticing its owners with plans to “revitalize” the city by platforming “the next generation of makers, producers and curators.” Cannonball Arts will consist of two floors geared toward music and contemporary arts alike.
Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival has taken place since 1971, organized by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe in partnership with Seattle promoter New Rising Sun. Last year’s lineup included electronic music acts like Uncle Waffles, ZHU, and Fatboy Slim.
“Cannonball Arts gives Bumbershoot a year-round platform to celebrate the wealth of creativity that calls the Pacific Northwest home,” said New Rising Sun Co-Producer and Creative Director Greg Lundgren.
“We are excited to be a part of the Bumbershoot transition from a weekend event to a year-round activity,” added Muckleshoot President and CEO Joe Olujic. “Welcoming people into a repurposed downtown landmark dedicated to the arts and cultures is a unique opportunity. We are looking forward to a very diverse programming experience for the communities from around the Pacific Northwest to enjoy for years to come.”
Cannonball Arts has not shared a date or any other details for its grand opening at the time of writing, and its timeline is likely subject to change. EDM Identity will share more updates on the up-and-coming venue as they become available.
