Excision and his fiancé, Emma Livorno, have shared that their first child together is due to arrive in October.
Last year, Excision shared with his fans that he had gotten engaged to his girlfriend, Emma Livorno. Now, the heavy dubstep figurehead has announced that the pair are expecting their first child together.
“See you in October,” wrote Excision (real name Jeff Abel) of his and Livorno’s baby on X. This means it will arrive right after Lost Lands, the music festival launched by Abel in 2017 that offers a momentous annual reunion for fans of heavy bass music from across the globe.
Also included in in Abel’s post were photos of him and Livorno holding ultrasound images as well as a tiny, dinosaur-themed outfit. Artists like LAYZ, TISOKI, Spag Heddy, ETC!ETC!, and TYNAN congratulated the couple in replies.
Abel started releasing DJ mixes under the name Excision all the way back in 2006. He dropped his first single, “Warning,” the following year, and 2008 saw him deliver his debut EP, Boom, via his own Rottun Recordings imprint.
A turning point came when Abel delivered his debut studio-length album, X Rated, on deadmau5‘s highly influential mau5trap record label. What followed was a rapid ascent that saw Abel make waves as a member of bass music supergroup Destroid, headline Boomfest in Broomfield, Colorado, and tour alongside artists like Dirtyphonics and ill.Gates.
Abel and Livorno started dating in 2016. That means the two have been a pair since just before Abel organized the first Lost Lands, the era in which his platform arguably grew to the status of a dubstep demigod.
A lot of world-famous DJs seem to be having kids lately. Techno icon Amelie Lens gave birth to her daughter, Kiki, in December, and last week, FISHER announced that he and his wife, Chloe Chapman, are expecting a baby of their own in June or July.
Abel and Livorno have not revealed the gender of their baby at the time of writing.
