IMS Ibiza will mark the first time The Beatport Awards have taken place since 2011.

Once upon a time, Beatport hosted an event called The Beatport Awards that recognized artists and labels by giving out honors in a number of categories. The online marketplace for dance music has announced that it will relaunch the ceremony at House of WOW on Wednesday, April 24 during the 2024 International Music Summit (IMS) Ibiza.

According to a press release, The Beatport Awards will consist of ten categories: Track of the Year, Artist of the Year, Label of the Year, Remix of the Year, Hype Label of the Year, Social Impact Award, Producer of the Year, Best Live Performer, One to Watch, and People’s Choice Award. The nominees include artists like Nia Archives, Barry Can’t Swim, Skrillex, Chase & Status, and Octave One.

The Beatport Awards will be judged by industry figures such as Billboard Dance Director Katie Bain, YouTube Head of Music Dan Chalmers, and journalist Marcus Barnes. Beatport staff will judge as well, namely Chief Community Officer Sofia Ilyas and VP of Curation Raphael Pujol.

Beatport first introduced its awards event in 2008 and hosted it for four years. The final 2011 ceremony at Gansevoort Miami Beach during Miami Music Week awarded then-breakthrough EDM artists like deadmau5, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia in the categories Top Electro House Track, Top Dubstep Track, and Top Progressive House Track, respectively. Classic dance music acts like Joris Voorn, Pleasurekraft, and John Digweed were also respectively honored with the awards Top Techno Track, Top Track of the Year, and Top DJ Mix.

“The Beatport Awards represent a significant milestone for our platform and the electronic music community as a whole,” said Beatport Chief Marketing Officer Charles Morgan in a statement. “We are thrilled to honor the outstanding achievements of artists, labels, and producers who continue to push the boundaries of electronic music and inspire audiences worldwide.”

Limited tickets are available for the 2024 relaunch edition of The Beatport Awards. Purchase yours and find additional information on the event website.
