Despite some unexpected changes, ISOxo’s kidsgonemad! tour ended on a high note in San Francisco.
Since his arrival on the scene, the impact ISOxo has had on modern American rave culture has been monumental. From inspiring a new generation of young DJs and producers to reigniting a passion for seasoned veterans, he’s become quite an unstoppable force.
He was quick to make his mark early on with unforgettable tracks like “Angel’s Landing” and “Nightrealm,” earning him widespread support from major artists including RL Grime and Skrillex. Since then, he’s nurtured those relationships and gone above and beyond to bring fans an experience they won’t forget.
One way ISOxo has done that recently is with his kidsgonemad! album and coinciding tour. Released late last year, the album featured 13 tracks and was met with high praise across the scene. Soon after its release in October, ISOxo announced the titular tour in collaboration with Brownies & Lemonade slated to hit 13 cities across the country. Naturally, we knew we had to experience the kidsgonemad! tour and got to planning for the Oakland stop in California.
We were stoked to see the experience that Brownies & Lemonade and ISOxo had curated for this stop. It was announced as taking place a secret warehouse location, and also the last stop of the tour.
Just days before the show, however, ticket holders would receive an email with a sincere apology and update on the event. The show would go on, but it would relocate to just outside of San Francisco at the Cow Palace warehouse in Daly City. This announcement set off a wave of attendees unable to attend and selling their tickets.
The last-minute location change added a level of uncertainty, excitement, and curiosity to the experience.
The day of the show arrived quickly and the Cow Palace parking lot was full of life by the time we arrived. Attendees were pregaming, vibing, and getting pumped for the show. The night was overcast, and rain was expected later that evening. Unfortunately for everyone waiting in line early, it started raining just before doors were set to open. To add insult to injury, security then let us know that entry would be delayed as they were still doing soundcheck.
About 30 minutes later, doors were open and the crowd flooded in just in time to catch the opening set by local UKG favorite Neumonic, along with his surprise guest, the young and talented Strobez. While they did an amazing job setting the tone with the 15 minutes they were given, we were disheartened to see the set cut short as they were definitely part of the allure of the event for locals.
Fans quickly flocked to the stage, the bar, and the merch booth. Unbeknownst to many of us, ISOxo had VIP swag bags waiting for any attendees with VIP tickets for the previous location. We were quick to claim our bags and make our way over to the main room. After discovering that there would be no alcohol served, we grabbed some water bottles and settled into the crowd for the rest of the show.
The previously reinvented Dryden then took to the stage, defying any expectations we may have had for a trap-only set. He instead delivered a dynamic and diverse performance, exploring a range of styles from trap to drum and bass and dubstep including plenty of his own unreleased music. Up next, yojas. pumped the crowd up with an energetic hybrid trap set, setting the stage for the highly-anticipated ISOxo.
ISOxo blew the crowd away, diffusing any concerns attendees may have had earlier that night.
Finally, it was time for the main event. ISOxo made his entrance and the room erupted into screams, cheers, and applause. Something about him just completely radiates rock star energy, and in tandem with the festival trap vibe of his sets, it drives crowds wild. He immediately turned the room up high, channeling his inner Bay Area spirit with hyphy music to get the crowd popping.
Alongside ISOxo was his high school friend and guitarist, Joey Falcone. To say that Joey completed the experience would be an understatement. Hearing the live electric guitar for tracks like “REDloop” and “Angel’s Landing” completely elevated the experience and brought goosebumps to my skin.
The awe didn’t stop there, either, as ISOxo took fans for a ride throughout his entire set, playing everything from techno to hard dance to garage to drum and bass. He also brought out the talented Ninajirachi for “SHYPOP” later in his set.
Almost too soon, ISOxo’s set came to an end — but the fun didn’t stop there. Instead, he brought up his best friend Knock2, Ninajirachi, Dryden, yojas., and the rest of the SD Waterboys for a banging b2b that filled the remaining 30 minutes.
An immediate, electric, and palpable energy filled the room. The Cow Palace warehouse felt like it was transformed into a miniature festival and all eyes were on ISOxo. If anyone had any doubts at the beginning of the night, they had vanished into thin air by this time.
As the show came to an end, the energy of the crowd carried on. Attendees remained in high spirits even as they rounded up their friends and made their way out the door. While we’d had concerns after the location change, the overwhelming merch line, and the realization that it would be an alcohol-free event, none of those things could take away from the unforgettable experience that was the kidsgonemad! tour.
ISOxo and the Brownies & Lemonade team delivered as usual. They gave everyone a night they would never forget, honored the music, and shared a truly special moment with us as the tour came to an end.
