[CELL] is a new stage concept that Eric Prydz will bring to Hï Ibiza for 12 weeks this summer.
Last month, Hï Ibiza announced that Eric Prydz would bring a miniaturized version of his HOLO stage show to the club in summer 2024. It looks as if he will instead introduce something called [CELL] that is purpose-built for the world famous superclub’s Theatre space for 12 dates from June 24-September 9.
A promotional video for [CELL] shows what appear to be a row of transparent LED screens hanging from beams overhead. Graphics light each screen up one by one, playing with depth and motion in a way that complements Prydz’ engaging brand of progressive house and techno. A press release calld [CELL] a “never-before-seen immersive concept” built from the ground up specifically for the Theatre.
Eric Prydz first achieved international fame thanks to his 2004 hit single “Call On Me,” although he’s worked to distance himself from the radio-friendly track over the years. He was a lesser-known early member of Swedish House Mafia, eventually parting ways with the group in 2008 over creative differences.
His dedication to his own vision paid off. By the time he delivered his debut studio-length album Opus in 2016, Prydz’s penchant for teasing original music in his sets for years before officially releasing it helped him amass a diehard cult following that obsesses over IDs from his hypnotizing performances.
Around that time, larger-than-life stage shows also became part and parcel of the Eric Prydz brand. He introduced HOLO in 2018 and took the 3D hologram-centered concept on tour with him last year, starting with his performance at Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
