Carl Craig, Fatima Hajji, Richie Hawtin, and Goldie will perform at Movement Detroit 2024.
House and techno lovers have been blessed with an announcement pertaining to their annual pilgrimage today. Movement Detroit has dropped its full 2024 lineup ahead of its return to Hart Plaza from May 25-27.
New additions to the Movement 2024 bill include second-wave Detroit techno figureheads Richie Hawtin and Carl Craig, Bosnian-German deep house maestro Solomun, and Australian electro provocateur Partiboi69. The Blessed Madonna and Fatima Hajji also appear on the final lineup — as does Ludacris, in keeping with the festival’s longstanding tradition of incorporating hip-hop into the entertainment offerings.
The lineup now consists of 115 names — more than five times as many as appeared on the teaser shared last month. Previously announced headliners include Sama’ Abdulhadi, Kevin Saunderson, Indira Paganotto, DJ Minx, and Fatboy Slim.
Movement 2024 also offers exclusive pop-up sets to VIP attendees. Afrobeats and hip-hop outfit HouseParty, house and disco label Rocksteady Disco, and dub and reggae group A Dub Supreme are among the collectives who will curate such events.
Talk to an old head and you might hear Movement Detroit called by a different name. It first debuted in 2000 as Detroit Electronic Music Festival courtesy of organizer Pop Culture Media, providing a platform for Motor City electronic music artists as well as their colleagues from around the world.
After the event exchanged hands a few times, rebranding as Focus Detroit Electronic Music Festival and then Fuse-In Detroit, it came into the possession of local promoter Paxahau and adopted the name Movement. It has gone by some variation of it ever since.
For all that is different, Movement’s focus on homegrown talent remains. Delano Smith, Wajeed, DJ Godfather, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale, and Stacey Pullen are but a few of the Detroit DJs who appear on the 2024 lineup.
Single-day passes as well as those for all three days are on sale now. Purchase yours or find additional information on the Movement Detroit website.
