Adiios’ family has released his final track, a flip of “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Another promising electronic musician has been taken before his time. Lake Tahoe DJ and producer Adiios passed away at age 32 of what authorities suspect was an accidental Fentanyl overdose early Monday morning.
Adioos, whose real name is Abraham Lemus, was one of four individuals found dead in a house after police responded to a report of an unconscious person receiving CPR. The other three were Adam Joy, Keely Pereira, and Clifford Joy. Two were found dead on the scene, and the other two received doses of Narcan before ultimately being declared dead as well.
A preliminary investigation by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department found that the substance found at the scene tested positive for Fentanyl. Autopsies and toxicology reports are still pending, however.
Lemus previously went by the stage name Adiidas and rebranded as Adiios in September 2021. He specialized in classic dubstep and experimental bass music, a sound encapsulated in cuts like “Gaffer” and “Window” featuring Brío.
Monday would have marked the release of Lemus’ flip of “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who himself passed away of a drug overdose in 2004. Lemus’ family posthumously released his final track via SoundCloud two days later.
“We are happy to see the success that he has achieved,” wrote his family in a statement shared to his Facebook page. “We are proud of everything that he did. He planned to release this song on Monday but due to unforeseen circumstances that didn’t happen.”
Lemus family continued: “We leave you with his last song as he planned to release. I hope you all love it and enjoy it as he would have loved to see each other’s reaction to it. Rest in peace to our son, our brother, our friend, & our everything.”
In a tribute of their own to Lemus, record label phuture collective lamented that so many artists in their orbit have recently met a similar fate. They wrote, “It’s honestly so fucked to think that our 2019 Emissions Festival showcase now has 2 of the 7 members no longer on this earth… not to mention the festival also had [CharlestheFirst] headlining… Whether that is cursed or just terrible synchronicity, idk.”
November 2023 saw the untimely passing of Florida talent sktchy ppl, whom Lemus himself mourned on X (formerly Twitter). Outside of bass music, techno artist Silent Servant was found dead alongside his partner, Simone Ling, and her collaborator, The Soft Moon, last month.
We here at EDM Identity express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Lemus, Pereira, and the Joys at this time. We urge all of our readers to always test their substances if they choose to partake.
