Both Matt Gralen and Helen Sartory will report directly to Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels.
Beatport has shared an announcement pertaining to the C-level of its organization. The online music marketplace’s CFO, Matt Gralen, has been promoted to president, and SVP of Creator Services Helen Sartory will assume the role of chief revenue officer (CRO).
Prior to stepping into his most recent role in August 2022, Gralen worked for music brands like UnitedMasters and Mass Appeal. He also offers financial insights from his time with investment banks like The Raine Group and Goldman Sachs. According to a press release, Gralen will continue to perform his CFO duties while taking on broader company initiatives.
Sartory joined Beatport shortly before Gralen. Like him, she boasts finance experience thanks to a role at Greenhill & Co., and she also served as head of emerging technologies for Lazard. She went on to oversee U.S. expansion of music technology incubator The Rattle prior to her SVP role at Beatport, and she sits on advisory boards for the Association for Electronic Music and International Music Summit.
“Matt and Helen have proven themselves as trusted leaders through building out our product portfolio, supporting our diverse team and culture, and delivering profitable growth,” said McDaniels. “We believe that, just as streaming revolutionized the music industry in the previous decade, a significant shift to more engaged and interactive experiences is coming.”
He continued: “DJs are the originators of this movement and all types of creators and fans are joining. I am pleased to have Matt and Helen take on expanded roles as we continue to invest in this future.”
Beatport, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, gained popularity at a pivotal time during which more and more dance music DJs transitioned from vinyl records to MP3s. McDaniels has served as CEO of Beatport since 2017, bookending a tumultuous few years after SFX Entertainment acquired the brand. Under his guidance, the company’s annual revenue has more than tripled and it enjoyed its all-time highest-grossing year in 2023.
Matt Gralen, Helen Sartory, and Robb McDaniels all work in Beatport’s London office.
