Amelie Lens says she gave birth “naturally and unmedicated.”
Amelie Lens can finally say goodbye to performing on stage with a baby bump. The Belgian DJ and producer counts a new member in her and husband Farrago‘s family after birthing a newborn girl named Kiki.
Lens revealed as much in a post to her Instagram account on Thursday, December 14. “A new kind of love,” she wrote with Farrago (real name Sam Deliaert) tagged. “Say hello to our daughter Kiki.”
In a post two days later, Lens shared more details of how she went into labor. “After being terrified of child birth my whole life, because of horror stories and whatever you see in movies, I decided to share my birth story, which was very positive,” she wrote.
“I decided to birth naturally and unmedicated to feel more connected to my body and my baby,” Lens continued. “I did not want to be touched or have my waters broken. I decided if my body can make a baby, I should also trust my body for labour.”
Lens went on to recount how she utilized breathing techniques and visualizations to push through the contractions. “Every time I got a contraction, I embraced it, I knew that every contraction comes like a wave and would also go away,” she wrote. “And I kept in mind that every contraction is bringing me closer to finally holding my baby girl.” Lens eventually gave birth to Kiki in a bathtub with Deliaert encouraging her nearby.
Amelie Lens has DJed for over ten years following a full-time career as a model that saw her work with Jean Paul Galtier and H&M. She released her first single, “Exhale,” on Lyase Recordings in 2016. After Lens and Deliaert (who is also a DJ) had dated for 14 years, the two married in the summer of 2022.
It is unclear how much time Lens will take away from touring for maternity leave.
