Tomorrowland invites fans to experience a universe based on its themes at Aribau Immersive Space.
Tomorrowland‘s organizers know a thing or two about storytelling. Not content to simply host a festival, they announce a theme around each year’s event that adds a chapter to their ongoing epic. Apparently, it is now too long for a single book — rather, it can fill an entire library. The international brand is therefore opening The Great Library of Tomorrow at Aribau Immersive Space in Barcelona on December 15.
In partnership with Xtended Reality Music Hub, the attraction promises virtual reality experiences of various story elements concocted by Tomorrowland’s creative team over the years. “The festival presents a new festival theme every year, which comes to life in a mesmerizing trailer, at the legendary Mainstage and throughout the festival grounds in Boom, Belgium,” reads a press release.
“As the stories of each theme cannot be expressed fully during the festival, Tomorrowland has also started bringing to life the magical worlds and storylines of the festival in fantasy novel form and releasing the complete origin stories of its festival themes,” it continues. ‘”The Great Library of Tomorrow’ now offers a new way to step into iconic chapters in the history of Tomorrowland and explore virtual worlds like never before.”
Each entrant will be allowed to explore the 1,000-meter space for one hour, encountering digital art installations in a “VR metaverse experience” that allows them to “get an initial glimpse at Tomorrowland’s DNA.” No specific details of the attractions therein have been announced — likely to give fans greater incentive to see them for themselves.
Over the 18 years in which Tomorrowland grew from a modest festival of 10,000 to a monumental gathering that routinely breaks 400,000 attendees, it has also expanded to offer experiences in new markets. Between Tomorrowland Winter in France, Tomorrowland Brasil, and its worldwide broadcasting platform One World Radio, the brand’s footprint on dance music only continues to grow.
The Great Library of Tomorrow will remain open until March 2024. Tickets are available on the Great Library of Tomorrow website.
