“My family has to come first,” wrote Borgore. “These past few weeks have been incredibly difficult.”

In the weeks since Hamas attacks killed hundreds on Israeli soil, the latest flashpoint in a decades-old conflict between Israel and Palestine continues to destabilize the region. For Borgore, the tragedy hits especially close to home, and he has chosen to cancel all of his 2023 tour dates through December 25.

“As much as I was hoping to be in the right headspace to go back on tour, I have had to make an incredibly tough decision,” wrote Borgore in a statement. “I regret to inform you that I will be canceling all my shows for the remainder of the year until December 25, 2023. I’ll be back for my New Years run.”

“My family has to come first,” he continued. “These past few weeks have been incredibly difficult. I know how excited you all are for these shows, and it breaks my heart to let you down. I want to perform in an environment where I feel everyone is safe and when l’m in a better mental space.”

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict dates all the way back to the Balfour Declaration of 1917, when the British government moved to establish a “national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine. Since 2007, battle has ensued between Israel and Hamas, a military organization that now occupies Palestine’s Gaza strip. Following Hamas’ October 7 attacks, Israeli bombardment has claimed over 9,000 lives in the Gaza strip with Israeli tanks and troops now advancing on Gaza City.

Borgore (real name Asaf Borger) was born in Holon, Israel and raised in Tel Aviv. His metal-infused style of bass music, which he has termed “gorestep,” has manifested in albums like 2014’s #NEWGOREORDER and 2019’s The Art Of Gore. His Buygore Records imprint has given a home to music by the likes of Ghastly and Jauz.

Borger has shared that his team is working to reschedule dates and offer refunds. “I hope you can understand the gravity of this situation and accept my sincerest apologies,” he wrote. “I can’t express how grateful I am for your continued support.”
